This spring, the British startup is launching two models: the Longbow Speedster and Longbow Roadster – handcrafted, elegant, and ultra-light electric sports cars that, both technically and in their design choices, turn their back on weight, plastic, and unnecessary electronics. What remains is pure driving pleasure, beautiful proportions, and the ambition to reinvent the classic British sports car – now in a fully electric version.
Longbow is conceived by some of the sharpest minds behind electric car successes such as Tesla, Polestar, Lucid, Uber, and BYD. They aim to position themselves as the UK’s first dedicated electric sports car brand.
The idea behind Longbow’s design is clear: lightness. The car’s weight must be radically reduced to enhance agility, responsiveness, and a more fun driving experience.
As Longbow Motors puts it: “Speed, agility, and safety are inseparable elements – each crafted through lightweight engineering.”
Beautiful, flowing lines
Longbow’s cars feature clear references to iconic British sports cars. The aluminium chassis – combined with super-light composite panels – gives the body classic proportions: long nose, short rear, deeply recessed wheel arches, and an elegant balance between aerodynamics and aesthetics.
The first two Longbow cars, which can already be reserved, are a Speedster and a fixed-roof Roadster. The Speedster is a pure, open sports car without a windshield and without a roof – a vehicle that evokes the classic sports cars of the 1960s.
The Roadster is essentially a coupe with a fixed roof. It retains the elegant lines but with the practical flexibility that makes the car usable year-round.
The design signals both nostalgia and the future: a backward-looking nod to classic sports cars, but with modern electric technology and a lightweight philosophy. According to the automotive press, Longbow looks like “a Lotus Elise meets a Jaguar E-Type with a modern electric heart.”
Longbow’s philosophy is not about building the fastest car in the world – but about building the most alive, agile, and driver-friendly electric sports car. Minimal electronics, no excessive luxury, but maximum connection between driver and road.
